Winter Golf Tip #1
One of the most common issues with golfers that live in cold climates is remaining flexible over the winter months. since golf is a rotational game that requires flexibility, winter puts a big damper on this significant element of a good golf swing. Here is what I recommend:
- Rotation – If you cannot swing a golf club over the winter, be sure to do some sort of rotation exercise so you do not lose this movement. Be careful to do these stretches very carefully. Avoid any jerking motion – when rotating, you will need to hold your stretch for about 30-45 seconds. Rotate left and right. 3-5 reps each way daily or at least 3-4 times per week will help significantly.
- Core/Balance – Find some good core and balance excercises. Again, when you go 3-4 months without swinging a golf club your balance and core strength will diminish. Both of these two elements are essential when swinging the golf club.
